We’re doing some creative things with the release: Tonight we play an ONLINE streamed launch gig and it’s open to everyone! from 9pm click on our facebook page to watch it streamed live.

Also; over the next three weekends we’re going to be opening up Pop-Up shops in vacant premises in our cities and bringing them to life for the day. As well as selling our album, we’ll play live performances, show people the instruments and how to play them, and just generally try to bring a bit of fun and colour to an otherwise empty space. We dunno how its all going to unfold yet, but that’s half the adventure! The first two are this Saturday 28th on 6 Opera Lane, off Patrick St, Cork; and this Sunday 29th on Fairhill St, Off Dominick St, beside Monroe’s & the Roisin Dubh, Galway.

This month, 6 years ago we released our first music, a self-funded EP, and booked our first tour.

To celebrate that anniversary and flag the arrival of our third album we wanted to release a new EP, but try and do something different with it. “Little Sparks: The EP” is the result. A 40-page colour magazine with a cd featuring 4 of the 15 songs we have recorded over the last 6-8 months with Mercury prize-winning producer Rob Kirwan.

Those songs are:

4. A Door Left Open

The magazine is our attempt to embrace and respect creativity in Ireland. It shines a light on the work of some of the people that we’ve worked with or that we like and respect but, more importantly, people that have managed to be creative in their chosen field of expression. These are the people – from furniture designers to painters, actors to writers, performers and musicians to independent politicians – that have left, or will leave, a dent on the cultural landscape of Ireland.
They’re all doing different things, but have one thing in common: they are trying their best: putting their all into what they do and doing their best to make whatever they do work in spite of all the hurdles.

We’ve asked everyone to talk openly and honestly about what, why and how they do what they do.We hope the way these contributors have performed, acted, filmed, painted and worked over the last 5 years will be inspiring to others. They have been to us!

The CD-EP and Magazine will not be released in shops; it’s a special limited edition. So, although you can download the songs digitally from the usual outlets, the physical copies of the EP + Magazine will be only available to people that come to our upcoming Acoustic tour. We’ve spent the last couple of months brushing up on our harmonies and learning new instruments; from Níals Dad’s old accordion, to our friend’s Mandolin; and we’re hoping to introduce the songs to you in a new and different setting as well as adding a new twist to some of our older songs!

We’re aiming to create a special night in each of the towns and cities we visit – and make each show something that will change with the venue and the audiences we play for. We’ve announced a few gigs already, and will announce more dates in the coming weeks. We hope you enjoy this release as much as we had putting it together.

Little Sparks – the EP released on 18th November

Well, since we last posted a blog or news we’ve been pretty busy, and we’re almost ready to tell you what’s going on! The good news is we’re finished the mammoth recording of our third album “Little Sparks”, and we’ll be releasing a very special EP very soon.

It’s almost 5 years to the day we first recorded something as a band and released our first EP, “Leave It On”, so we decided it would be cool to release a new EP of new music before the album. Like everything else on this album however, we’ve tried to make the release as interesting and special as possible, and so we’ve enlisted the help of some of our friends for the release… more on this to follow…!

As regards the album, we’re very proud of it and we’re not going to rush it to have it out by November (which at this stage would be the earliest release), we’re going to wait a few weeks, work on the artwork and the mixes, and release it very early in the new year. For us, we think this is the best album we have ever done, so we want to take the time to get everything right (We also want time to choose the best running order and tracklisting, and chosing an album from the 15 songs we recorded has not proven easy)

As regards gigs, we’ve started back in the practice space and we’re currently trying to work out how to play the songs, Some are quite different and will be a challenge… We’ll let you know gig details as we have them.

Anyway, this is just a little update to let you know whats going on, we’ll be in touch real soon with more, we’re very excited for you to hear it!
